Protect Yourself from Malicious Emails: A Crucial Security Update from Elevate Offshore

At Elevate Offshore, safeguarding our team members is a top priority. Recently, some of our offshore personnel have been targeted by malicious emails designed to deceive and exploit. These emails may appear to come from individuals within Elevate Offshore, including Managing Director, Andrew Blears, but they are fraudulent.

This increase in malicious emails appears to coincide with staff updating their LinkedIn profiles with Elevate Offshore as their employer. Scammers may be monitoring these updates to target our personnel. To protect yourself from these threats, please follow the guidelines below.

How to Protect Yourself from Email Scams

  1. Verify the Sender’s Email Address
Always check the sender’s domain. Genuine emails from Elevate Offshore will come from addresses ending in @elevateoffshore.com. If you receive an email from a different domain, such as Gmail or Yahoo, it is likely fraudulent.
  2. Be Cautious with Links and Attachments
Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from emails that seem suspicious or unexpected. If you have any doubts about an email’s authenticity, do not engage with the content.
  3. Recognise Red Flags
Scammers often use tactics such as urgent requests, unfamiliar greetings, or strange formatting. For example, a recent scam involved someone posing as Andrew, asking a recipient to “run a quick errand”—an unusual and suspicious request.
  4. Report Suspicious Emails
If you believe an email is fraudulent, report it immediately to [email protected]. Do not reply to, engage with, or open anything from the sender. Additionally, mark the email as junk/spam in your email provider and block the sender’s address to prevent further contact.
  5. Regularly Update Passwords
Ensure your passwords are strong and updated regularly. Avoid using the same password across multiple accounts, as this increases the risk of being compromised.

Additional Security Measures

If you receive any suspicious emails that do not match the examples provided, including messages that seem to come from LinkedIn or other platforms, please follow the same precautionary steps. Report the incident to both the relevant platform (e.g., LinkedIn) and to our team at [email protected] for further assistance. Your vigilance and prompt action are essential in maintaining the security of our operations.
