Training Insights: Sonardyne Fusion 2 Online Training

Elevate Offshore is committed to providing top-tier training to our staff and contractors so that they can effectively support our clients’ needs. In September 2024, two of our contract Senior Survey Engineers, Satish Raut and Syed Faizal, completed the Sonardyne Fusion 2 online training.

A Comprehensive Learning Experience

Satish shares his experience below:

“I attended the Sonardyne Fusion 2 online training conducted by Stuart Slade. The training was exceptionally well organised and covered a wide range of important topics. Stuart explained the Fusion 2 software excellently, including how to interface with the Navigation Sensor Hub (NSH) and the LBL (Long BaseLine) concepts. He also revised the differences between wideband versions 2, 2+, 3, and 3+, which was great for refreshing my knowledge.

Stuart guided us through complex processes like Baseline Calibration, Box-in, and SLAM Calibration with remarkable clarity. I particularly appreciated the focus on advanced concepts like Sparse LBL and Inertial Navigation System (INS), emphasising how they apply in real-world operations. He also presented real-time problems and discussed possible solutions, enhancing our understanding of troubleshooting.

One of the highlights of the training was working with real-time simulated data for calibration exercises. This hands-on experience helped me better grasp how these systems work in practice. Stuart’s expertise and clear communication made the learning process smooth and engaging.

The knowledge I gained will be extremely useful when working on Fusion 2 LBL projects in the future. Overall, it was an excellent learning experience, and I highly recommend this training to anyone working with Fusion 2.”
