Elevate Offshore and S4 Deliver Second Successful Survey Project Management Course

Building on the success of their inaugural programme earlier this year, Elevate Offshore and Suffolk Survey & Subsea Services Ltd (S4) have delivered their second joint training course, Survey Project Management for Marine Survey.

Held from 16–18 September 2025 at Somerset House, Birmingham, the three-day course offered career-enhancing development for senior offshore personnel, contractors, freelancers, and client representatives seeking to transition into onshore project management or refine their existing skills.

Continued Commitment to Industry-Leading Training

Recognising the increasing demand for skilled offshore project managers, Elevate Offshore continues to expand its professional development programme in collaboration with S4.

The course was led by Arron Burrows, whose extensive industry experience and engaging teaching style ensured every attendee gained practical, real-world insights.

“At Elevate Offshore, we believe that empowering people is the foundation of progress. Our commitment goes beyond providing services—we invest in developing offshore professionals with the skills and confidence to excel”
“Through tailored training opportunities such as our Project Management for Marine Survey course, we equip the next generation of leaders to manage complex operations, deliver with precision, and drive innovation in the marine industry. By elevating knowledge, we elevate the future of offshore.”

Tony Williams, Technical Manager at Elevate Offshore.

Immersive Learning and Collaboration

The course took place in the Cadbury/Bournville Room at Somerset House, a convenient and comfortable venue that was selected for its accessibility and focus. Attendees enjoyed catered lunches throughout the three-day event, which fostered connections and discussions beyond the classroom.

Wednesday Night included a networking evening at the Flight Club, hosted by Tony — blending socialising with professional networking in a casual setting.

Curriculum Highlights

Participants explored a comprehensive curriculum covering key aspects of survey project management, including:

  • Professionalism and communication
  • Continuity of actions and document control
  • Project management procedures and PRINCE2 methodology
  • Tendering, commercial best practice, and client liaison
  • Fit-for-purpose resourcing for vessels, equipment, personnel, and software
  • Legal, contractual, and risk management (HIRA/QHSE)
  • Project planning, daily reporting, cost control, and performance tracking
  • Post-project wash-ups and lessons learned.

The format promoted active engagement through interactive discussions, problem-solving activities, and the analysis of real-world scenarios. The diverse group of attendees encouraged open exchange and cross-disciplinary learning within the marine survey sector.

Positive Feedback and Professional Impact

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, recognising both the high standard of content and the excellence of delivery.

“The course came highly recommended by colleagues and, despite initial scepticism about the mixed company format, it proved to be a real strength—encouraging diverse perspectives and productive discussion. Arron delivered the content with exceptional clarity and depth, drawing on his extensive industry knowledge across all stages of the survey project life cycle. Highly recommend – Thank you!”
— Ellie Roberts

“Arron was exceptional in his knowledge and delivery of the course, leveraging his extensive professional experience with the individual experiences of the participants.”
