MBES Processor – Senior
Job Description:
MBES Processor – Senior
Project description:
The project consists of remote multibeam data processing in support of a survey campaign executed with an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV).
The survey scope is expected to involve sweeping surveys or cable route surveys performed from an unmanned platform, requiring near real-time data processing.
A distributed team model (multi-time zone coverage) will be implemented to ensure full 24h coverage.
Primary Tasks and responsibilities
- Process and clean MBES (Multibeam Echo Sounder) data in near real-time using BeamWorx AutoClean
- Apply automated and manual cleaning techniques to ensure data quality and consistency
- Perform quality control checks on bathymetric data and validate outputs against project specifications
- Monitor incoming survey data streams from the USV
- Identify anomalies, noise and artefacts in datasets and apply corrections
- Ensure continuity and completeness of processed datasets during 24/7 operations
- Execute and optimise data processing workflows
- Maintain efficient workflows adapted to continuous acquisition environments
- Adjust processing parameters depending on survey conditions and data quality
- Deliver processed data outputs
- Generate bathymetric grids, point clouds and deliverables required by the client
- Prepare interim and final outputs in the agreed formats
- Collaborate with survey and project teams
- Communicate data quality issues and provide feedback to acquisition teams
- Coordinate with other processors across different time zones to ensure seamless handovers
- Maintain documentation and reporting
- Keep processing logs and documentation up to date
- Ensure traceability of processing actions and decisions
Technical profile requirements
- Proven experience as MBES / multibeam data processor
- Strong hands-on experience with BeamWorx AutoClean (mandatory)
- Experience in bathymetric data cleaning, QC and validation
- Experience with USV MBES data processing (preferred)
- Experience with sweeping surveys and/or cable route surveys (preferred)
- Good understanding of:
- MBES data processing workflows (calibration, cleaning, corrections)
- Data formats and hydrographic deliverables
- Experience working in remote processing environments (asset)
- Ability to manage large datasets efficiently and accurately
Non-Technical profile requirements
- Able to work independently in a remote and distributed team setup
- Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset
- Good communication skills for handovers and issue reporting
- Flexible and adaptable to changing workflows and shift models
- Proactive and capable of identifying and solving processing issues
Certification requirements
- None
Language proficiencies
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Additional languages are an asset
Planning & Rotation
- Project duration: October – December (approx. 3 months)
- Work schedule: 24/7 operations
- Shift model (to be confirmed):
-
- Option 1: 3 resources covering 8-hour shifts
- Option 2: 2 resources covering 12-hour shifts
- Potential global coverage model (EU / Asia / Americas)
Location
- Fully remote role
- Processing via remote desktop (Windows laptop)
Contract
- Full-time engagement during project duration
Timeline of the process:
- Request shared to market: Early August
- Screening & interview by G-TEC: Mid-End August
